Hoffland Environmental recently installed SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) control on a turn-key industrial wastewater treatment facility. Touch screen control was utilized with Wonderware® software to produce a very operator friendly system. A graphic presentation animated the filling and draining of tanks, operation of pumps, mixers, valves and vents, instrumentation and alarm conditions. Instrumentation data was remotely displayed on the central control monitor. Automatic telephone dialer alerted responsible personnel of alarm conditions during unmanned periods.

The entire systems monitoring and control as well as expedient reprogramming may be performed from HEI’s master computer center in Conroe, Texas.

The system was installed at a new industrial wastewater treatment plant with a cyanide oxidation sub-system, chromate reduction sub-system, flocculation, clarification, filtration and solids compaction. The treated water was reused after ultra filtration and reverse osmosis filtration.
